Metristepe Victory Monument

History and Visitor Experience

Metristepe Victory Monument is an important historical landmark located in Bozüyük, Bilecik, in the area where the İnönü Battles took place. Metristepe overlooks the historic battlefield along the Bozüyük-Eskişehir route and holds an important place in the history of the Turkish War of Independence.

Construction of the monument began as part of the 50th anniversary of the Republic, and it was officially opened on 29 June 1975. Built in concrete, the monument is approximately 24 metres high and 8 metres wide. The front of the monument features the famous telegram sent by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk to İsmet İnönü following the victory at the Second Battle of İnönü.

Metristepe is more than a historical monument; it is also a meaningful destination for visitors interested in seeing an important battlefield of the Turkish War of Independence. Its elevated location provides views across the surrounding landscape and the historic battlefield area.
